Stop Blaming the Teachers! by Dr. Jim Taylor

When did teachers become the bĂȘtes noir of public education? Why are they getting all the blame for America’s public education failings? Everywhere you look, people are piling on teachers as if they are at the root of all that is bad in our public education system. Even President Obama has gotten in the act, supporting the mass firing of teachers at a Rhode Island school that has been deemed “failing.”

End of the Year Celebration

We had a wonderful end of the year program to celebrate the 5th graders heading off to middle school.

Fabulous turnout (over 500+ people) for the program and the potluck. Thank you to all the families who brought and shared such wonderful food.

It has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to teach your children.

Congratulations and Good Luck

Annual Ditch Day

We had a blast at the annual 5th grade Ditch Day. Spent the morning bowling and playing in the arcade at Bedrocks, then spent the afternoon at the park eating all the foods banned during the regular school days. Everyone enjoyed signing yearbooks and hanging out.

Due dates and other requirements will be altered due to the lack of science boards.

We will put together the science boards in class. You do not need to worry about it at home.

You just need to have your experiment completed and typed up. We will spend today and tomorrow making sure that everyone has this completed.

You can go and buy a board at Target, Office Max, Office Depot, or Wal-mart, but you are not required to do that.

Parents, Please do not worry. You child's grade in science will not be affected by the fact that the science boards are not here and available.
